Gemstones for January are Emerald, Garnet and Rose Quartz.
Emerald enhances meditation, dream recall and deeper spiritual insight. It may be used to open and activate the heart chakra and helps in aligning our subtle bodies. It is an excellent stone for those who are in need of balance and healing.
Garnet is an ayurvedic birthstone, and was considered a January birthstone by the ancient Arabic, Hebrew, and Roman cultures. This stone balances and stimulates both the root and crown chakras allowing the development and movement of the Kundalini. It monitors and adjusts the flow of energy, providing for a balanced energy field. It is said to be a powerful energizing and regenerating stone, and has been used as a sacred stone by the Native American Indians, the Aztecs, and the Mayans. It enhances one’s creativity, love of life, and also helps one to cleanse and remove unwanted energies. The deep red color of this stone is mostly associated with the first chakra, “Muladhara. It also aligns us with love and compassion.
Rose Quartz is associated with the fourth chakra, “Anahata” or heart chakra which governs the thymus, heart and lungs. It opens our hearts, encourages peace and gentleness and promotes tolerance and forgiveness.
I love playing The Wild Divine! It is a computer game that teaches you how to use your breath to stimulate or relax your biological responses by using biofeedback sensors worn on your fingers to control various events.
I’ve had this game for a few years and I still use it on a regular basis, especially when I need a little peace and quiet during the holidays.
I recommend it to everyone interested in personal and spiritual growth.

“We meditate for various reasons. Peace of mind we all badly need. Therefore, when we meditate, either consciously or unconsciously we aim at peace of mind. Meditation gives us peace of mind without a tranquillizer. And unlike a tranquillizer, the peace of mind that we get from meditation does not fade away. It lasts for good in some corner of the inmost recesses of our aspiring heart.” – Sri Chinmony

“I think as you meditate over the years you evolve–your practice gets deeper, and you reach new levels of inner peace and awareness.” – Jack Canfield
When I woke up this morning the sky was dark and heavy with fog as I slowly made my way to the kitchen to heat some water for my morning cup of tea. These days I find myself turning in towards myself, towards contemplation, meditation in preparation for the cooler days ahead. The wheel turns!
